I got to enjoy a speech given by my good friend, Dov Siporin. Dov Was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colo-Rectal Cancer in January of 2008. His unique sense of humor has been a uplift to those around him. This is the man who wrote a quote on his Ass everyday for his therapy. A true inspiration to us all.
Thanks Dov.

This Year a great idea came to me from Marie Spaulding:
I have joined PeaceFelt 2010 and became a part of a circle symbolizing unconditional love and peace.
I ‘d like to share with You my PeaceFelt 2010 experiences:
On the 21st september our family – both me and my wife with the ubiquitous help of our children
– celebrated International Day of Peace. All the day we were creating our pieces for PeaceFelt circle … and we did really enjoy this work.
Wool is the material that is very good to express the idea of peace. It’s soft and gentle, cosy and warm, friendly and tender… once You have touched it – You want to do so again and again ![]()
But it’s also easy to destroy soft woolen pieces (not hard felted yet)…
To use wool for creating a felt piece – it’s quite a hard work. Eventhough it doesn’t look like that.
But when felted, fine fibres join into a solid, consociate piece.
Isn’t it similar with peace?!
We all love to live in peace, but it’s so hard to establish a stable peace world… but where people are joined together with a good idea, there peace can come into being…
Here is the story of my PeaceFelt idea:
I’ve decided to make my PeaceFelt piece as a wooden carved bird in a felted nest, rounded with natural branches.
Of course: I love the idea of the Peace-Dove…
But it¨s not as simple…
This idea came to me as it brings a lot of the peace-attributes of my live to the one piece:
My family and home is my whole life.
My second name (in my native- Czech language: Kvicala, in my favourite- Russian language Rjabinnik) means FieldFare in English.
And so: our home is the real fieldfare-nest
I’m a carver, living upon day-to-day wooden toys making and I love our handmade way of life ![]()
My beloved wife is a felt maker and also – she’s the "nest" of all original ideas and designes we create.
All we need for our creation comes from the branches of our mother nature
Everytime I can see the flying bird, I feel hapiness and freedom, however hard my life is in that moment. So I hope birds can bring a bit of peace feeling also to suffering people.
When I hear a bird singing, time stops for a while. Sheer wonder.
When birds are nesting, it always brings us a promise of the birth-miracle and a hope of the new life…
At the time of creating we also discussed problems of our world, that are important to be solved to enable all the people living in peace:
Thank to the PeaceFelt impulse, things started to move in our home ![]()
Last days my beloved wife has spent a lot of time browsing internet to get necessary information to make our family active in help. I do really appreciate her enthusiasm and wisdom. She has opened the door for me not just to see, hear or read, but to try to feel other people suffering…
We both have joined One – a campaign and advocacy organisation with more than 2 million members committed to the fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease – to stay informed about world’s most important needs and problems and to have a chance to ACT immediatelly when it’s necessary.
And we’ve found a pair of other simple ways to help:
Canadian Red Cross has really friendly and simple page to enable You quick help.
Stand up to cancer is quite a new initiative created to accelerate groundbreaking cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives.
I’d like to thank to Marie Spaulding and other PeaceFelt 2010 promoters for their great idea, iniciation of this circle and of course for the whole work made for us.
Also thank to all the kind people, participating on the PeaceFelt 2010 for sharing love and peace.
I wish all of people living in peace, love, health and happinness.
